Perangkat pembaca KTP-elektronik (KTP-el reader) berfungsi untuk membaca data yang terekam di dalam chip KTP-el. Syarat fungsionalitas dan syarat spesifikasi perangkat keras yang digunakan dalam perangkat ini tertulis di dalam lampiran Peraturan Menteri Dalam Negeri No. 34 Tahun 2014. Dalam hal ini PT Waringin Jati telah melewati serangkaian pengujian kesesuaian atas syarat-syarat tersebut yang dilakukan oleh Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi (BPPT) yang hasilnya dicatat dalam sertifiktat pengujian bernomor 472/PTIK/HU/12/2015. Perangkat KTP-el ini membantu lembaga pengguna untuk memastikan pemegang KTP-el adalah benar orang yang dimaksud di dalam data KTP-el tersebut, karena perangkat ini mewajibkan pemegang KTP-el untuk melakukan verifikasi dengan sidik jarinya sendiri.
The function of KTP-el reader is to read data recorded in the chip. Requirements of functionality and hardware specifications are listed in attachment sheet of Peraturan Menteri Dalam Negeri No. 34 Year 2014. PT Waringin Jati has passed a series of tests by Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi (BPPT) in terms of the suitability that referred to the requirements. Testing result is recorded in certificate No. 472 / PTIK / HU / 12/2015. KTP-el reader helps the institutions to ensure KTP-el holder is really the right person recorded in the KTP-el, since these devices require the holder to verify by their fingerprints.
Di awal tahun 2016, PT Waringin Jati mulai memproduksi sendiri perangkat pembaca KTP-el ini. Didukung oleh tim IT dan elektro dari putra-putri bangsa Indonesia yang berbakat di bidangnya, PT Waringin Jati terus melakukan riset untuk mengembangkan produk perangkat ini baik dari sisi aplikasi maupun perangkat kerasnya agar kualitas produk semakin baik. Kapasitas produksi juga ditingkatkan menyesuaikan dengan permintaan pasar. Berbagai instansi pemerintah dan perbankan sudah menggunakan produk pembaca KTP-el buatan PT Waringin Jati.
